Besides local artists, it has works by Theodor Pallady, Nicolae Tonitza, Camil Ressu and Iosif Iser, donated by the architect Marcel Locar.
About the place
The museum moved in 1970 into the house of the lawyer and MP Constantin Roiu (1873–1944), a late 19th-century Neoclassical listed building. It owns more than 1,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures and decorative pieces, part of which are shown in six rooms.
The permanent exhibition features artists born, trained or working in Roman. The Ciurdea-Steurer family donated 80 works from four generations, and the architect Marcel Locar 30 works by Pallady, Ressu, Iser, Nicolae Dărăscu, Ștefan Dimitrescu, Tonitza, Lucian Grigorescu and Alexandru Ciucurencu. The museum also holds temporary exhibitions; in autumn 2026 it shows the painter Florin Mareș.
