What to see
Why it's on the list

It is the easiest way to see the town and the surrounding mountains from above, and the operator keeps it open all year, weather permitting.

About the place

The gondola opened in 2008 and was built by the Austrian firm Doppelmayr. It has 22 eight-seat cabins and 10 pylons, the tallest (64 m) on Bulevardul Decebal, and climbs from 323 to 632 m, according to the operator. By 2024 it had carried more than a million passengers.

From the Cozla plateau you see the town centre, Lake Bâtca Doamnei, the Bistrița valley and, on clear days, the Ceahlău massif. Reviews from autumn 2026 say the cabin windows are scratched and that fog can hide the view, so pick a clear day.

Good to know

  • The operator publishes daily hours (Mon, Tue and Thu 10 am–8 pm, Wed 12–8 pm, Fri–Sun 10 am–10 pm), but in November 2026 Google showed weekends only, 10 am–6 pm: phone before you go.
  • In bad weather the gondola may stop, and the last ride leaves 30 minutes before closing.
  • Residents, children under 5, people with disabilities and groups get reduced or free rides; details are on the website.
